Object Of The Month

Welcome to Object of The Month, a new way to enjoy the Coastal Communities Museum when the museum is closed. We will be selecting some of our most interesting objects and artefacts to share.

North Berwick Books of Remembrance

North Berwick Book of Remembrance, First World War

This beautifully illustrated leather bound Book of Remembrance was created as a permanent record of the names of the fallen from North Berwick in the Great War. The book was the inspiration of Reverend William Lyon who lost three brothers in the Great War.

North Berwick Book of Remembrance, First World War

A second illuminated Book of Remembrance was created for the Second World War and both books were kept in the Burgh Council of Chambers. Both books are now on long term loan to the museum from North Berwick Community Council.

Museum trustee Ian Goodall has photographed the individual pages of both books and has created a book of First World War entries which can be viewed at the museum.
